i just saw a commercial for music rising dot org in which a certain musician who shall remain nameless says, “i don’t know what i would do if i woke up one day and suddenly lost my guitar, but for many people in new orleans, that’s just what happened!”

and then the commercial went on to say that i, yes i, could help put guitars and instruments back in the hands of those who lost theirs in the wake of katrina. and yea, verily i was so relieved. i could not have been more relieved. because the first thing i thought when i saw the utter devastation impacting new orleans and the surrounding region was, “oh no. those poor people. what will become of their guitars?!?!?”

Didn’t you hear the story that they had thought that Fats Domino had died but then they found him floating on a piano? I’m serious!
