You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide Where to go…
In an effort to distract myself from the current stressful situation, I’ve decided to try to rekindle the interest in my blog again. Writing is cathartic and even if it’s all mundane B.S., at least I get to express myself. Right? Right! So I’ve been listening to a LOT of music lately which just goes [...]
Excuse me while I nerd up the place, but OH MY COW, I AM SO EXCITED! Skyrim comes out in November. I’ve seen several trailers for it and it looks good. See? I’m nervous cause there’s so much for them to screw up. Come on, Bethesda, give it to me good!
What are you, effin’ kidding me? Read this and then explain to me how come it’s the year 2011 and we’re still living in the Dark Ages.
I am really digging this guy. Matt discovered him and shared with Jake who then shared with me. We think it’s a sin not to share music around these parts. Try this one as well. Good stuff!
Off to Savannah, Georgia tomorrow for a conference. Looking forward to being back in the south, I miss it an awful lot. Wish me luck. Wish me safe travels. Wish me happy flight attendants and no delays. Wish me home safe again. I’ll do the best I can.
Read an interesting article by Conrad Fischer, M.D over on Pyschology Today about the rising cost of insurance. In a nutshell, the author says doctors aren’t getting rich off of those premiums, and neither are the hospitals. Indeed, more and more hospitals shutter their doors every day because, without a bailout from the government, they [...]
For reasons I cannot even begin to comprehend myself, much less explain to you, I just read this article about Tiger Woods who I could not possibly be less interested in. However, it did leave me to an interesting thought and I think maybe I’m on to something. Just hear me out. Humor me. WHAT [...]
Very interesting and well-written article on the evolution of web media and some of the lesser known facts about the way the tide is turning. I admit this hadn’t been on my radar before this article, but since reading up on it, I’m going to be keeping up on what happens here. Nobody had to [...]
Allstate apologizes for Zodiac confusion Oh seriously? They’re sorry? For what? Is this how stupid we’ve become? Ever see that movie Idiocracy? No? Watch it. No, no, go ahead. I’ll wait here while you drive to the rental store, rent it, drive back and watch it then report to me here. I KNOW, RIGHT!? I’m [...]
A Woman's Manifesto
Because a woman’s work is never done.
and is underpaid, or unpaid, or boring, or repetitious,
and we’re the first to get fired,
and what we look like is more important than what we do.
And if we get raped its our fault
and if we get beaten we must have provoked it
and if we raise our voices we’re nagging bitches
and if we enjoy sex we’re nymphos
and if we don’t we’re frigid
and if we love women it’s because we can’t get a real man
and if we ask our doctor too many questions we’re neurotic or pushy
and if we expect childcare we’re selfish
and if we stand up for our rights we’re aggressive and un-feminine
and if we don’t we’re typical weak females
and if we want to get married we’re out to trap a man
and if we don’t we’re unnatural
and because we still can’t get an adequate, safe contraceptive, but men can walk on the moon
and if we can’t cope or don’t want a pregnancy we’re made to feel guilty about abortion
and for lots and lots of other reasons
we are part of the women’s liberation movement.- Joyce Stevens, International Woman’s Day, 1975.

Man Vs. Heart Attack
I am somewhat worried about the dude on Man v Food. He isn’t looking so good these days and putting that food away like that can’t be good for him.
One should always be drunk. That's all that matters; that's our one imperative need. So as not to feel Time's horrible burden; one which breaks your shoulders and bows you down, you must get drunk without cease.
But with what? With wine, poetry, or virtue as you choose. But get drunk.
And if, at some time, on steps of a palace, in the green grass of a ditch, in the bleak solitude of your room, you are waking and the drunkenness has already abated, ask the wind, the wave, the stars, the clock, all that which flees, all that which groans, all that which rolls, all that which sings, all that which speaks, ask them, what time it is; and the wind, the wave, the stars, the birds, and the clock, they will all reply:
"It is time to get drunk!
So that you may not be the martyred slaves of Time, get drunk, get drunk, and never pause for rest! With wine, poetry, or virtue, as you choose!"
Charles Baudelaire
