Writing is catharsis for me. It’s a way to rage and laugh at myself and the world and try to make some sense of it all, before it’s too late. The men in the white coats are never far behind.

The name “God Laughs Alone” comes from some deep, dark thoughts about how God is this big practical joker. He thrusts us into relaltionships with creatures completely and totally different than ourselves and laughs while we flounder about trying to make it work. He gives us children to bring us unparalleled joy …as well as unprecedented misery. He finds this funny, our constant struggle to walk the line. He’s got a dark, twisted sense of humor, that one.

What else to explain the mess we find ourselves in?

But God laughs alone. It’s a lonely joke cause we’re not in on it. We’re the unsuspecting victims of his turbulent whimsy. His brand of humor is beyond our meager minds. We can’t possibly get it. So on he goes, laughing all alone and, maybe, just possibly, wishing He could explain it all so we could join in the fun.
